Line the hat

Wool hats rub and dry out hair. A satin bonnet or scarf under the hat helps protect it.

Seal in moisture

After washing, use a leave-in or cream and then a little oil on the ends.

Lotion twice a day

Morning and after the bath. Add a thin layer of jelly on cheeks, lips and hands before going out in the cold.

Why is my child's hair drier in winter?

Cold air outside and heating indoors both take moisture out of hair. Curly and coily hair loses it fastest, so it needs moisturising more often.

Is it safe to use adult products on children?

Check the label. Products made for children are usually milder. For babies and children with eczema or very sensitive skin, ask your pharmacist or GP first.
