Rubbing Alcohol

Rubbing alcohol and isopropyl alcohol for external use, including the Caribbean favourites with wintergreen. We stock Benjamins Rubbing Alcohol and Astringent Rubbing Lotion, and Haz isopropyl alcohol in 50%, 70% and 99.9% strengths.

Which one do you need?

  • Rubbing alcohol with wintergreen: the traditional green rub with a strong minty scent, used as a cooling body rub.
  • Astringent rubbing lotion: a milder rub for the skin.
  • Isopropyl alcohol 70%: the common strength for cleaning skin surfaces, tools and equipment.
  • Isopropyl alcohol 99.9%: a high-purity cleaner for tools, nail prep and electronics. It is harsh on skin.

Safety first

For external use only. Never drink it. It is highly flammable, so keep it away from flames, heaters and cigarettes, and use it in a ventilated room. Do not apply to broken skin, large areas of the body or near the eyes, and keep it out of the reach of children. Do not use it to bring down a fever, especially in children. Seek medical advice instead.

Common questions

What is the difference between 70% and 99%? 70% contains water, which helps it work on surfaces and evaporates more slowly. 99% evaporates fast and is used mainly for cleaning tools and electronics.

Can I use it to clean clippers and combs? Yes, 70% isopropyl is commonly used for wiping down tools.
