Collection: Developers & Peroxide

Developers & Peroxide

Cream peroxide, also called developer, is mixed with hair dye or bleach to activate it. We stock Truzone, Colour Culture, Jerome Russell and L'Oreal Professionnel developers, from small 75 ml bottles to 1 litre salon sizes.

Which volume do you need?

  • 10 vol (3%): deposits colour or goes darker, with little or no lift.
  • 20 vol (6%): the standard strength for permanent colour and grey coverage, lifting one to two levels.
  • 30 vol (9%): lifts two to three levels for lighter shades.
  • 40 vol (12%): the strongest lift. Best left to professionals, and many bleach instructions say not to use it on the scalp.

Common questions

Which developer goes with my dye? Use the strength and mixing ratio in your dye's instructions. Staying within the same brand is the safest choice.

Is higher volume better? No. A higher volume lifts faster but is harder on the hair and scalp. Use the lowest strength that gets the result.

How do I use it safely? Wear gloves, do a skin test 48 hours before, never mix in a metal bowl and never leave it on longer than directed.

You will also need hair dyes and bowls, brushes and gloves.
