Care packs for women's refuges

Many women and children arrive at a refuge with nothing. We are putting together hair and skin care packs for refuges, Women's Aid services and other support charities, with the right products for afro, curly and mixed-texture hair.

What we are planning

  • Women's essentials pack: shampoo, conditioner, a moisturiser or oil, a wide-tooth comb, a satin bonnet and body lotion.
  • Children's pack: gentle shampoo, detangler, leave-in conditioner, comb, soft hair bands and a child's bonnet.
  • Protective style pack: scalp spray, edge control, a satin scarf and braid care for women arriving with braids, a weave or a wig.
  • Skin care pack: body wash, a rich body cream, petroleum jelly and lip balm.

Packs will be made up from products we already stock, so a refuge can swap items to suit the people it is supporting.

For refuge and charity staff

If you work for a refuge or a support service and would like packs, or want to tell us what your residents most often need, please get in touch. We are still deciding what goes in, and your advice will shape it.

We do not need the names or addresses of anyone you support. Orders can be collected by staff from any of our three Leeds shops, or sent to an office address.
