Shop before your appointment

Many braiders and stylists ask you to bring your own hair. Order it here and have it delivered to Bristol.

In the last 12 months our Bristol customers ordered clip-in extensions, braiding hair and conditioner most often.

Curl types and porosity

Two things that help you pick products that suit your hair.

  • Type 2, wavy. Loose S-shaped waves that can go flat or frizzy. Light products work best.
  • Type 3, curly. Springy curls and ringlets. Define them on damp hair with a cream or gel.
  • Type 4, coily. Tight coils and zig-zags that dry out fastest. Add moisture, then seal it in with oil or butter.
  • Porosity. This is how easily your hair takes in and holds water. If water beads on your hair and products sit on top, it is likely low porosity, so use lighter products and a little warmth. If it soaks up water fast and dries fast, it is likely high porosity, so use richer creams and seal with oil.
  • Most people have more than one curl type on their head.

Shop leave-in conditioners, curl creams and hair oils.

Before you go

A quick checklist for salon and barber visits.

Salon or braider

  • Ask what hair to bring: brand, length, colour and number of packs.
  • Ask whether to arrive with hair washed, detangled and blow-dried.
  • Check the price, the deposit and how long it will take.
  • Say straight away if anything feels too tight.

Barber

  • Take a photo of the cut you want.
  • Keep hair and scalp moisturised between cuts.
  • If you get razor bumps, ask about a bump treatment.

Shop men's grooming.
