Castor oil, and Jamaican black castor oil in particular, is one of the most popular oils in afro hair care. We stock pure oils from Sunny Isle and Tropic Isle Living, plus castor oil serums and styling products.

Which one do you need?

• Jamaican black castor oil (JBCO): made from roasted castor beans, giving a dark colour and smoky scent.
• Extra Dark JBCO: a deeper roast, thicker and richer.
• Coconut or blended JBCO: lighter and easier to spread.
• Lash and brow serum: castor oil in a wand applicator.
• Castor oil styling gel: hold with added oil.

Common questions

Does castor oil grow hair? There is no firm scientific proof that it speeds up growth. It is a thick oil that seals in moisture and protects against breakage, and scalp massage itself is good practice.

How do I use it? Massage a few drops into the scalp two or three times a week, or apply to the ends to seal. It is thick, so mix with a lighter oil if needed.

Can I use it on edges and brows? Many people do. Patch test first and keep it out of the eyes.
