Collection: Weaving Nets & Needles

Weaving Nets & Needles

Everything you need for a sew-in or a home-made wig: weaving nets and caps, curved and straight needles, weaving thread, crochet latch hooks and DIY wig caps.

What do you need?

  • Curved (C) needle: the standard for sewing wefts onto cornrows, as the curve passes under the braid easily.
  • J and straight needles: for flatter areas and for making wigs on a block.
  • Weaving thread: strong nylon or cotton thread. Match it to the hair colour.
  • Weaving net: sewn over the braids to give a base, protect your hair and spread the tension.
  • Latch hook: for crochet braids.
  • Combo packs: thread and needles together.

Common questions

Do I need a net for a sew-in? Not always, but it helps if your hair is fine or thin, and it takes strain off the braids.

Nylon or cotton thread? Nylon is stronger and lasts longer. Cotton is softer and easier to cut out.

How do I take a sew-in out safely? Cut the thread, never the hair. Work slowly and feel for the thread before each snip.

Weaving Nets & Needles FAQs

What do I need for a sew-in weave?
A weaving net or weaving cap, a curved weaving needle and weaving thread.
Why use a weaving net?
A weaving net sits over your braids. It protects your natural hair and gives you an even base to sew wefts onto.
Which weaving needle should I use?
Curved C needles are the easiest for sewing wefts close to the scalp. Straight and J needles are useful for wigs and closures.
