Which shampoo do you need?

  • Moisturising or sulphate-free: for dry, curly and coily hair that needs a gentle cleanse.
  • Clarifying: a deeper clean to remove gel, oil and product build-up. Use every few weeks.
  • Neutralising: used straight after a relaxer to stop the chemical process.
  • Anti-dandruff and scalp care: for flaking and itching.
  • Colour care and purple shampoo: protects dyed hair or tones brassiness.
  • Kids' shampoo: tear-free and detangling formulas.

Common questions

How often should I wash afro hair? Most people find every one to two weeks works well. Wash more often if you exercise a lot or use heavy products.

Should I shampoo twice? If your hair is very oily or has build-up, yes. The first wash lifts dirt and the second cleans.

Do I always need conditioner? Yes. Shampoo opens the hair up, and conditioner smooths it back down and makes detangling easier.

Shop by need: thickening shampoo, baby shampoo and KeraCare.

Shampoo FAQs

Which shampoo is best for afro and curly hair?
Look for a moisturising or sulfate-free shampoo, which cleanses without stripping the natural oils that curly and coily hair needs.
What does a clarifying shampoo do?
It removes build-up from styling products, oils and hard water. Use it occasionally and follow with a conditioner.
What is a sulfate-free shampoo?
It cleanses without sulfate detergents, so it is gentler on dry, curly, coloured or chemically treated hair.
