Which one do you need?

  • Flexi rods and soft twist rods: bendy foam rods you wrap hair around and fold closed. Comfortable to sleep in and great for natural hair.
  • Cold wave or perm rods: small, firm rods for tight curls and for curly perms.
  • Foam rollers: soft rollers with a clip, for overnight sets.
  • Satin rollers: a smooth cover that reduces frizz and snagging.
  • Rollers with pins: classic wet sets under a hooded dryer.

Common questions

What size gives what curl? The smaller the roller, the tighter the curl. Jumbo sizes give volume and loose waves.

Wet or dry hair? Damp hair with setting lotion or mousse gives the longest-lasting set. Hair must be fully dry before you take the rollers out.

How many do I need? Roughly 20 to 40 flexi rods for a full head, depending on size and hair thickness.

What is the difference between flexi rods and perm rods?
Flexi rods are soft, bendable rods that hold themselves in place and give spiral curls. Perm rods, also called cold wave rods, are firm plastic rods with a band and give tighter curls.
What size roller or rod should I use?
Smaller rods and rollers give tighter curls. Larger ones give looser curls, waves and volume.
Can I sleep in rollers?
Soft foam rollers, satin rollers and flexi rods are the most comfortable to sleep in. Cover them with a bonnet to keep them in place.
