Free NHS Liver Health Checks Return to Chapeltown Leeds Following Successful Community Event

Following the success of our previous Community Liver Health Checks event, CC Continental Supermarket is pleased to welcome the NHS Community Liver Health Checks Team back to Chapeltown, Leeds for another day of free liver health checks.

The previous event saw a strong response from the local community, with many people attending to have their liver health checked. Unfortunately, due to demand, some people missed the opportunity to be seen.

We are therefore delighted that the team will be returning to Chapeltown on Friday 18 September 2026.

Free Community Liver Health Checks in Chapeltown

The event will take place at:

CC Continental Supermarket
121–129 Chapeltown Road
Leeds LS7 3DU

Date: Friday 18 September 2026
Time: 9:30am – 3:00pm

There is no advance appointment required. Checks are available on the day on a first come, first served basis.

The event is designed to encourage people who meet the NHS liver scan criteria to have a free liver health check in the mobile clinic vehicle.

Why Liver Health Checks Matter

Liver disease can develop without obvious symptoms in its earlier stages, which is why identifying people who may be at greater risk and encouraging appropriate health checks is important.

The Community Liver Health Checks programme helps bring NHS services directly into local communities, making it easier for eligible people to access liver health information and checks closer to home.

Visitors will be assessed against the relevant criteria before being offered a liver scan.

Who May Be Eligible for a Liver Scan?

You may meet the liver scan criteria if one or more of the following applies:

  • You have previously had, or may have been at risk of, Hepatitis B or Hepatitis C
  • You consume more than 14 units of alcohol per week
  • You are aged 50 or over and have Type 2 diabetes
  • You are aged 50 or over with a BMI above 30, or above 27 for some people depending on ethnic background

If you have already had a liver scan within the previous 12 months, you may not be eligible for another scan at this event.

Preparing for Your Liver Health Check

If you are planning to attend, you should avoid eating for three hours before your scan. You can continue to drink water.

The scan requires access around the rib area, so wearing separate tops and bottoms, such as a T-shirt with trousers or a skirt, is recommended.

Please also be aware that there is a step to climb onto the mobile clinic vehicle, so attendees need to be independently mobile.

Please Help Us Spread the Word
